1951 – born in Kazan, USSR.

1968 – entered the Moscow State University, Department of Ancient History.

1973 – graduated from the Moscow State University, Department of Ancient History. M.A: The Military Reforms of Septimius Severus.

1973-1976 Postgraduate course in Moscow State University, Department of Ancient History.

1977 - PhD (Moscow State University): Imperial Bureaucracy under early Severans.

1977-1995 - Moscow State University (Department of Ancient History), lecturer (1989 - 1995 - senior lecturer).

Since 1995 - Russian Academy of Sciences, Centre for Comparative Studies of Ancient Civilization, a senior researcher (the main place of work).

Since 1995 - University of the Academy, a lecturer in ancient Roman history.

Since 1996 - Russian State Humanitarian University, a senior lecturer in Roman Law.

Since 2003 – The Institute of world culture (Moscow State University), a leading researcher.

1996 - one month studies (as a visitor) in The American School of Classical Studies at Athens.

1996, 1998, 2000, 2003 - one month studies at Maison des sciences de l'homme, Paris.
